Joe's Week 13

Postby JoeS » Wed Jun 02, 2010 8:18 pm

Well it happened sooner than I thought it would. It happened almost exactly as I thought it would though. I laid the bike down last night. Low speed 10mph making a right turn, corner was nothing but gravel. One second I am up and the next I am on the ground. Didn't hit my head or land on my back, but managed to catch my right knee between the pavement and the bike. Had the knee x-rayed, and thankfully I didnt break anything. Unfortunately, it has swollen up to about the size of a softball and I can barely bend it. Gonna kinda cramp my training for a bit though, I have faith that it will be healed up in time for the tremont tri. I don't care if I have to walk the whole course, I am racing. So if I will probably miss a few group workouts, but know I wish I was there training with you.

It happens to all of us, take care of yourself and get back to training when your body is ready.

Hang in there. You will bounce back. "Setbacks are just setups for Comebacks"

2x50 warmup
400 main
2 x50 cooldown

2.08 2.27 2.36 2.38 where my hundred split times. I am ready and feeling good for the swim portion. Knee is feeling really good, but I have not done any running on it. I don't think I will before the race though just to be extra safe. I wish July had worked out a little different, but I am going to be able to race and am really looking forward to it. This has been an enjoyable journey so far and I am looking forward to completing this stage of it saturday. I know from talking with Dustin the thought of doing a half iron man next year is planted in my mind. Way in the back the thought of doing a full iron man in 2012 is slowly not seeming so insanely crazy. For now the plan is to get through saturday and then I can start worrying about training again.
